Haven't had a proper bath for weeks

Published:Thursday | January 17, 2019 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am happy to hear that the Mandela Highway pipeline has been repaired, but the community of Whitehaven Gardens, on Whitehall Avenue, in the vicinity of Red Hills Road, has had no water, not even the normal little trickle that would come at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m., since last Friday.

No water truck for all these months. We are struggling for water, and a truck came once last year. I have to be begging water or, in recent times, waking up at 1 a.m. to catch a few bottles, as the pressure is also very low when the neighbours are trying to catch as well. This results in me having a hard time falling asleep when I have work in a few hours.

So, could the National Water Commission please turn on the pipeline to our community? My hands and back are going to give out on me soon with all this heavy lifting daily. I have not had a proper bath, much less shower, in weeks.
