Political maturity has arrived in Jamaica

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This event (Portia among six former labour ministers honoured) is the type of political maturity that will help, not hinder, Jamaica's development.

Reminds me of my early age witnessing the respectful cooperation of Alexander Bustamante and Norman Manley as they set out to build a nation after 1962 independence. After 57 years, I am confident that our country, irrespective of which party is in government is heading in the right direction.

As the diaspora gathers again this June in Kingston, we wish the JLP and PNP much success as they continue to collaborate for the best advantage to fellow Jamaicans.

I just returned from Jamaica and having travelled for work and pleasure over many years to the USA, UK, Europe, Central and South America, the Caribbean and now Canada, I can truly say that Jamaica is a blessed country.

Our people are smart and resilient. If we can just improve our local disciple, continue to care for and support each other, especially our young people, educational institutions and create job opportunities, the full potential of Jamaica will be realized. I have full confidence in the abilities of our people and institutions.

May God continue to bless our nation.
