Why reinvent the wheel on Port Royal?

Published:Tuesday | September 17, 2019 | 12:08 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This is an open letter to Heather Pinnock, general manager of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC).

I am flabbergasted that the UDC would advertise for consultants to undertake the development of a ‘Sustainable Master Plan’ for Port Royal as this is would be a total waste of public resources when a set of detailed plans and reports have been done and paid for by the Port Royal Development Company that are still relevant, though they may need some adjustments.

Does nobody in the UDC take the time to research what was done before so that the agency does not waste taxpayers’ money on redoing most of what was done and paid for before by the partners, including the UDC?

By ignoring the private-sector allies in the public-private partnership, you are going to be pursuing unnecessary details all over again.

This is totally outrageous and again points to the level of disdain being displayed for your local private-sector partners.
