SOE: The lid on criminal’s sugar jar

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Permit me to share an observation relevant to the state of emergency (SOE). If a sugar jar is infested with ants, and you put the lid on it, then push the jar in a brown paper bag, the ants will still be in it.

If they are able to breathe and breed, ants will come out in greater numbers were you to remove the lid.

SOE is the lid on the criminal sugar jar. Remove the ants or remove the sugar.
