Misery manhole fixed – but not by us

THE EDITOR, Sir:
The National Water Commission (NWC) wishes to respond to the letter to the editor published in The Gleaner of Wednesday, October 9, 2019, titled ‘Manhole misery’.
The referenced manhole near 1 Havendale Drive does not belong to the NWC as we have no central sewers in that area.
Furthermore, we agree with the letter writer that it would appear clear from the markings on the manhole cover and the contents of the manhole that it would not be the NWC’s responsibility.
We regret the writer’s negative experience but are pleased to note that on our visit to the location Friday morning, the manhole cover had been repaired by the responsible entity (not the NWC).
