Transition home an excellent move

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The vulnerable among us include the young, old, the physical and mentally challenged.

May we all see the need to pay keen attention to their needs and aim to care for them accordingly. As such, I am truly heartened to see a transition home for those wards of the State who would become homeless as they come of age.

Corporate Jamaica, I know you are stretched, but please let us aim to build one such home in each county as a start. Thanks to the government agencies and the USAID that made this possible.

On another note, is the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) still operational? If so, I fail to believe that service levels are being monitored and regulated.

Telecommunications companies Flow and Digicel are so inefficient and undependable that I sometimes feel I am living in a nightmare. Presently, my retired aunt is without her landline for a week, thanks to Flow.

As for the NWC, nice to hear the drought is over. My relative who lives on Stewart Avenue in May Pen has been without piped water for months. Ironically, the Rio Minho runs closely by. The old people would say, oftentimes, running ‘bank to bank’.

The late Wilmot ‘Mutty’ Perkins used to say “It’s not ‘OURs’ it’s ‘Theirs”. Poor Jamaica.
