Where are you, OUR?

Published:Saturday | December 14, 2019 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

On Thursday, December 12, I went to the FLOW office on Washington Boulevard in St Andrew to apply for an Internet and cable package.

While talking to the customer service representative, I was informed that I have to sign a two-year contract. If I decide to leave the company before two years, I have to pay 50 per cent of the remaining months.

On hearing this, I went outside and called the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR). After speaking to the receptionist four times, I was transferred to an extension that no one answered.

I would like to ask the following questions:

1. What is the purpose of the OUR?

2. Who is there to protect the consumer?

3. Is the OUR only there to grant increase to the utility companies?

4. With the poor service that FLOW is offering, why should consumers be locked in a two-year contract?

Over to you, OUR.
