Play the good reggae music

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Reggae Month, which was officially proclaimed and first staged in 2008, spearheaded by the culture ministry and powered by the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JARIA), is once again on our timetable.

Therefore, let us play some of our best reggae songs – the good, old hits songs of yesteryear – or let us go on the golden memory band wagon and select them from there. Good and entertaining music can create sunshine on a cloudy day.

Of all the many radio stations in Jamaica, Kool 97 FM is the only station that plays old songs on a regularbasis. From Sunday to Sunday, especially during the weekdays, from early in the morning, Kool 97 FM is always dishing out some good, old hits.

Thanks to Kool 97 FM and the members of staff for doing such a wonderful work, and making us feel good with the good, old songs; and bringing back memory of the good, old and peaceful days - schooldays, too, when we used to punch jukebox by dropping coins in and selecting our songs of choice.

However, I have a problem with Sister Kool. There are times when she plays certain songs too often, while there are other songs that are starving for airplay, or songs that we haven’t heard in years.

We would definitely like to hear some of the forgotten ones.
