Milton Brown: A true stalwart

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Upon hearing the news of the passing of Milton Brown, I wish to use this opportunity to express my sincere condolences to friends and family of the former mayor of May Pen and councillor for the Mineral Heights division. I recently met Mr Brown during the by-election in South East Clarendon. I could pick up that Mr Brown had unconditional love for his people from Mineral Heights. He was a gentleman who believed in the growth and development of his division and parish. Mr Brown highlighted the importance of the inclusion of the younger generation in politics through his unwavering support of former senator, now Member of Parliament for South East Clarendon, Pearnel Charles Jr. He believed our young people would formulate the foundation of building the new Jamaica.

We have lost a true stalwart, leader, visionary and father of his people in Clarendon and, by extension, a brave and fearless soldier of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). I know the JLP is saddened and shocked by his passing.

To his family, I hope they will be comforted by his selfless service, which will forever remain unchangeable in the legacy he has left behind.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but I know the resilience, courage and vigour within his family will continue to maintain what to me has proven to be a consistent reputation which will bring comfort to whoever is hurting during this period of grief. I pray that eternal light will shine upon him and healing may flow through the doors of his family, friends and loved ones.

Rest well, champion councillor, rest well. We all will continue to love you even when we only have your legacy to hold tight!
