Let’s remember these steps for crime prevention

Published:Monday | July 6, 2020 | 12:21 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I am calling on the people to remember some steps that we ought to take for crime prevention, and to combat it effectively.

Step 1. Make sure that the police and armed forces have proper protective gear – including bulletproof vests.

Step 2. We should work towards those guilty of violent crimes to be caught and severely punished.

Step 3. Those who commit serious crimes, and are found guilty by the law, should not be shown leniency.

Step 4. Encourage people to report crime and criminal activities confidentially.

Step 5. If it’s possible, have a panic button in your home to alert the security agencies in case of any danger or break-in.

Step 6. If you see a suspicious-looking person, or persons, lurking around in your community, call the police immediately.

Step 7. Don’t protect or shelter criminals – they are nobody’s friends.

Step 8. There should be severe punishment so that people who are engaged in criminal activities think twice about committing any crime.

Step 9. Let’s pray continuously for our police and armed forces.
