THE EDITOR, Madam:

Kudos to Jason Holder’s boys for registering an emphatic and determined win over England in the first Test at Rose Bowl, Southampton, on the hosts’ soil. It was the first-ever international cricket match played amid the COVID-19 pandemic that is still shaking the entire world.

The heroes of the winning side, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shane Dowrich, Roston Chase, who were architects and overcame challenges in the crucial points of the match. Jermaine Blackwood, skipper Jason Holder and Shannon Gabriel also have to be commended for the splendid bowling spells.

Cricket lovers now expect the touring West Indies side, with high morale and relaxed mind, to take on the hosts England once again at Old Trafford, Manchester. We are looking forward to an exciting match and series. All the best to West Indies, may the team continue its winning streak.
