THE EDITOR, Madam:

The Board of Mahoe Gaming Enterprises Limited is offering this open letter in response to the letter published in The Gleaner on Friday, July 31, from P. McLean headlined ‘Security concerns over Mahoe gaming’.

We appreciate that your medium is used to express diverse opinions. However, we are compelled to point out several errors of fact by the writer.

As has been reported, Mahoe Gaming is a 100 per cent Jamaican-owned entity.

Mahoe’s board includes chairwoman Michelle Myers Mayne of Restaurants of Jamaica and director Paul Scott of the Musson Group, who each bring extensive understanding and experience in retail distribution; and director Lise-Anne Hoo Harris, who began her career in finance at NCB and is now an entrepreneur operating bakeries.

The chief executive officer, Christopher Caldwell, is the former IGT senior vice-president of Latin America and the Caribbean. In that role, he provided lottery technology and consulting services to Supreme Ventures Limited and lotteries around the world with more than 25 years of gaming experience.

Mahoe Gaming has sought a world-rated provider of lottery technology to allow us to maximise enjoyment and improve the experience for the Jamaican consumer. Mahoe will offer consumers a proven system from Genlot, the number-one provider in the gaming industry in China.

The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) initiated a review of the credentials of our partners in gaming technology – Genlot. Mahoe and Genlot will endeavour to complete all required due diligence with the BGLC.

Michelle Myers Mayne

Chairwoman
