Krystal Tomlinson should be more respectful

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I read the news item, with a sense of horror, about Krystal Tomlinson’s 30-day notice period given to Dr Peter Phillips to quit as the People’s National Party president.

Dr Phillips has given 30-plus years of service to Jamaica. His performance as minister of finance, when Jamaica was at risk of the International Monetary Fund not wanting to assist us, was patriotic, intelligent and in the true character of public service.

Her letter was rude and showed a lack of gratitude to Dr Phillips for his many years of service. Her letter seems to be crudely self-serving, and Dr Phillips deserves an apology from Ms Tomlinson. She also needs to think pragmatically and not be under the impression that she is Senate material at this early stage of her political development.
