Need divine intervention to tackle COVID-19

THE EDITOR, Madam:

We are all aware of the serious nature of COVID-19, and in August, it was decided by the tourism minister that we would reopen the tourist sector.

It was emphatically stated that visitors from ‘bubble’ countries would be exempt from testing. Wasn’t this an unwise and decision?

It was stated in the Sunday Gleaner dated August 16, 2020, that effective August 20, 2020, non-residents visiting Jamaica from the United States, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, which have been designated as high-risk locations, are now required to obtain a COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction test.

Wasn’t that a bit late? Why did we ‘’close the gate after the horse had gone through”? What is more important to us? The state of the economy and foreign exchange or the well-being of our citizens?

We need some godly men and women who will position themselves to hear from God and impart such knowledge because without divine intervention, we could surely head down the path of destruction.
