Need to tackle ‘daddy problems’ urgently

Published:Tuesday | November 24, 2020 | 12:06 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I am thrilled to see someone speaking about this problem – article by Ronald Thwaites titled ‘Crime is a ‘daddy problem’’ in The Gleaner of November 23.

It is frankly very unwise to think that the cycle of crime and violence can be resolved by replacing police commissioners or blaming the ministers of justice.

With the present inattention to the issue highlighted by Rev Thwaites, the problems facing Jamaica will either remain the same or can become worse. With over 1,000 murders being recorded annually and the rate of other horrible social distresses and crime in such a small country is insanity.

Tackling the ‘daddy problem’ should be the major joint focus for both political parties and should be part of an unwavering national promotion.
