A multipronged investigation has been launched into whether a deregistered plane bearing the Mexican flag that crash-landed in Rocky Point, Clarendon, on Saturday evening was on a smuggling mission. Here are some readers’ reactions sourced from The Gleaner’s Facebook and Instagram pages:

“They are unbelievable. I’m almost certain it wasn’t a humanitarian mission they were on, since they vanished after the landing and there was no word if any air traffic controllers were in contact with them. Plus, something seems more off about the Government’s response to this though.”

– Elon Wilson

“So y’all just ready fi admit seh is a smuggling hotspot? We already put two and two together, and know seh a drugs and/or guns come here.”

– Aneika Murray

“If Rocky Point is a hotspot, why is not being monitored. What happen to the coast guard and all the people at the control tower? Apparently they all fell asleep at the same time. This is no local operation.”

– Audrey Amos

– Kayan Macmason

“Not even a press conference? Nothing? Okay.”

“Y’all can’t even find the door and seats, much less the occupants.”
