Waiting on NWA approval for traffic lights at Drax Hall

Published:Tuesday | January 26, 2021 | 12:09 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

This is in response to a Letter to the Editor, on January 21, Fix The Traffic Lights At Drax Hall! We share the concern of the citizen of St Ann regarding the continued absence of traffic lights at the crossing of the North Coast Highway from Drax Hall north to Drax Hall south, which we find extremely hazardous. The matter has been a concern of the Knutsford Express for some time, and they have written asking for it to be rectified.

We would point out, however, that the contractor for the installation of these lights has been paid in full by Drax Hall Ltd to undertake the work, and when contacted as recently as Sunday, January 24, he advised us that he was awaiting approval from the National Works Agency for the work done to date before he could move forward. Despite our best efforts, however, we were unable to obtain information from the National Works Agency as to when such approval would be forthcoming.

We are grateful for the concerned citizen who has brought this to the attention of the public, and we trust that it will help to expedite the work before any serious accidents happen.
