Greta Bogues: An outstanding servant

Published:Thursday | February 25, 2021 | 12:09 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The sudden death of Greta Bogues has robbed Jamaica of an outstanding servant who was passionate about corporate governance. She advocated for corporate governance with evangelistic zeal. She worked hard in that field as if she had a premonition that she did not have long to live so she made hay while the sun shined.

During my tenure as chairman of the Toll Authority (2012-16), she as a director was a driving force in ensuring that the backlog of three outstanding annual reports were sent to Parliament and made the Toll Authority one of the government boards that had a current annual report. In addition, terms of reference were formulated for all board committees and board members knew that they were responsible for proper governance of the Toll Authority. Greta also played a major role in the Toll Authority developing a charter, which made the entity way ahead of other government agencies. She made a significant contribution in corporate governance in Jamaica. May all who come behind her recognise her invaluable contribution.

Condolences to her daughter Keisha, and to the other siblings of Greta. May her soul rest in peace.
