Multiple data breaches are worrisome

THE EDITOR, Madam:

After the first JAMCOVID breaches were discovered and I highlighted my concerns about how such a low-level security issue could have occurred, many so-called professionals are coming to the defence of the Government saying that things do happen and a lot of hullabaloo.

Investigations were launched to see if anyone illegally accessed the portal, which was an obvious attempt to saddle any fault of the app unto someone else. It seemed that the exercise was to take away accusation from the Government.

The question arises is why even the latest breaches were not discovered by the persons currently investigating the earlier breaches?

Now we hear that the website is down. What will be the course of action now? Will there be another set of statements saying that ‘these things happen’ and there is nothing to worry about?

All these chain of events are not putting any confidence in the Government. We don’t know if the people of Jamaica will hear the truth, which they deserve to.

The powers to be should realise that “you can fool all people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all the time”.
