THE EDITOR, Madam:

Kudos to the Trinidadian firebrand batsman Kieron Pollard to become the third batsman to slam six sixes in an over in international cricket. The other two cricketers are Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa against Netherlands (2007) and Yuvraj Singh of India against England (2007) to achieve this outstanding feat.

However, Pollard’s performance should be lauded by one and all cricket lovers. Especially, as Sri Lankan bowler Akila Dananjaya whose subsequent six deliveries were sent over the fence by Pollard had recorded a hat-trick in the previous over, dismissing Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran.

Of course, the honour of this unparalleled sort of cricket game goes to the legendary West Indian cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers, who is the first to smash six sixes in one over, back on August 31, 1968 against Glamorgan in England.
