Kudos Accountant General’s Department

Published:Monday | June 13, 2022 | 12:06 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I am writing to make mention of the team from the Life Certificate Unit at the Accountant General’s Department . I would like to commend them for the great customer service they provided at their mobile drive to collect life certificates from government pensioners on Saturday, June 11, at the St Catherine Parish Library.

I arrived at the venue quite early, at 6:55 a.m., and left there at 9:40 a.m., and throughout the time the service was smooth sailing. Numbers were issued as the persons arrived. Then the members of the team came, set up their equipment and workstation, took charge and started calling out the numbers. They directed individuals to assigned personnel for verification and the printing of certificates. The necessary signatures were affixed and receipts issued. The process was smooth.

I want to specifically commend the excellent customer service received from Mr Semoy Dixon, who was interacting with us online and was present at the location. The way he conducted business, and his personality, should be followed by those in the public service. I also voiced to him my concerns and displeasure at the previous collection drive, which was held in March. That exercise was disorganised. Some pensioners were disgruntled and vowed never to return.

I made a few suggestions to Mr Dixon, who took note of them. He promised that the team will make all efforts to make the next event a better experience.

In spite of the bashing that is meted out to workers in the public sector, there are individuals and departments that are making a big difference, and they must be commended.

On behalf of the pensioners of St Catherine, I want to express gratitude to the team for their warmth, love and courtesy shown. Keep up the good work.
