Beware of criminal motorbike riders

Published:Thursday | October 6, 2022 | 12:07 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I have heard increasing reports from persons, especially women, of motorbike riders who have driven them to fear. I have also (heard from) females who say they have been held up at knifepoint and gunpoint and robbed of their belongings. Many of them panic whenever they hear the sound of motorcycles. Others have been threatened by them.

Now more than ever bike thieves are harassing pedestrians and robbing them on the streets. Now more than ever bike criminals are seen targeting and molesting civilians; even some female motorists.

Don’t keep quiet, notify the police.

If and when you see motorcycle riders who look suspicious, and who come to the gas station to purchase gasoline for their bikes, secretly call the police or write down their licence plate number.

Finally, I don’t believe that the police and armed forces are doing enough about bike criminals. They need to be searched thoroughly. There are too many bike thieves in Jamaica.
