THE EDITOR, Madam:

I write on behalf of the Mavis Bank Coffee Factory Limited family to express our sincere sympathy and condolence on the passing of former board director Dr Marshall Hall, a father and business mentor to so many of us.

During his association with the Mavis Bank Coffee Factory Limited as director, we benefited from his tremendous ability in business and mentorship that helped management and the Mavis Bank Coffee Factory team to perform remarkably well.

I benefited from his support and guidance when I served as president of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, and with his continued support the Jamaica Agricultural Society through both Denbigh and St Mary shows, and the Jamaica Producers Group.

Dr Marshall Hall’s commitment to Jamaica’s agricultural sector was demonstrated constantly and consistently throughout his life. His role in the development, expansion, and recovery of the banana industry is evidence of this commitment. He has left Jamaica and the agricultural landscape better than he found it as a result of his personal and corporate inventions and contributions. I regard him as ‘A Champion Farmer and Nation Builder’.

We express our condolences to his wife Dr Jeanette Hall and children Jeffrey Hall, Dr Allyson Hall, Ms Andrea Perkins and their families, including grandchildren and in-laws, the Jamaica Producers family, other relatives and friends.

May his soul rest in peace.
