Naturally You’s Sitara Byfield, Corporate U’s Gavin Bennett, and Bridal Dreams Jamaica’s Dionne Waugh organised a sold out premiere of the record-breaking blockbuster movie, Black Panther, last Thursday night at the Palace Multiplex cinema in Montego Bay, St James.

“For us, this was a celebration of the upward percolation of our brothers and sisters in mainstream cinema,” Byfield told The Gleaner. She said she was inspired by the fact that she was forced to rent an extra cinema for the event.

Montegonians turned out in their numbers, not only to see Black Panther, but  they attended with a sense of pride, contributing to the two charities associated with the event — Father’s House, a transitional home for wards; and the Pregnancy Resource Centre, which provides care and housing for young girls who are pregnant.

According to Byfield, these charities deal specifically with young women's rights, and health and care, which she and her team believe are vital and worthy of continued support.

Corporate entities that sponsored the event included 876Legends, Cover Me Up Tents, Reggaetech, Caribbean Producers Jamaica, Triple Glar and Decadent Catering.
