Dream House | A dreamy Clarendon landmark
Salt Savannah Road conveys us to this house of secrecy, on the southern coast of the island, in the community known as Portland Cottage, Clarendon.
Its immediate, discreet location is oh, so very quiet, except for those cars slowly driving past, reversing, and stopping to eagerly snap pictures of a glamorous house out of nowhere – that expects and demands your concentrated attention.
You find it impossible to ignore its unmistakable compositional presence, predominantly because of its single–floor design, defined with a towering 19 – foot roofline, shooting skywards.
But that’s just the tip of the architectural iceberg.
This landmark property in the region, has, as a part of its frontage, a humongous brick motor court, for numerous vehicular parking. This leads not only to a three–car (automated door) garage, but also to the welcoming arched, columned entrance porch.
Double doors invite you inside the living and dining areas. This section is flanked by both sleeping wings of the building, with three bedrooms, with one exposing a distinctive, upholstered circular bed. Three bathrooms are graced with glass–enclosed showers, one with a soaking tub.
The contiguous spatial relationships continue with a well – proportioned, island–style kitchen, possessing grey custom–made cabinetry, with a door to the outside.
Finishes that radiate luxury throughout include Brazilian porcelain floor tiles privately shipped in, visually stunning double–tray ceilings with recessed lights, and granite countertops and mirrored closet doors. Brown and cream paint on the outside and mostly grey colour on the interior were all customised by our leading paint manufacturer, with exotic names for this client only.
A verandah extends a relaxing arm to the rear, with a field of vision taking in a noteworthy 35-foot pool, with multiple cascading waterfalls and an adjoining hot spa tub for you to luxuriate in. An outdoor kitchen /wet bar gazebo, accompanied by a marvelous waterfall, koi fish pond, and manicured flowering gardens are all enclosed by perimeter boundary walls with a continuous amount of columns, fitted with showy light fixtures that light up the one-acre surroundings, magically.
An independent two–floor construction, also at the rear, houses a gym upstairs, with the additional parking of a triple carport below. That’s a total of six covered parking bays.
The businessman owner, who was born in Jamaica, lives overseas and returns several times a year.
Construction on the house began in 2018 and was completed after two and a half years. Jevon Bryan was the person responsible for bringing this dream to fruition. Well done.
Today, we remove this house from obscurity! Its mystique is no more as we have now come to understand and appreciate its very being.
