In the life of a fashion model, a beauty or fragrance campaign rests atop the wish list of dream jobs. Consider it then a sweet bullseye for SAINT International stunner Brit Knight, who currently beguiles for Lancôme, one of the world’s premier luxury perfume and cosmetic brands.

Knight stars in the new celebrity-stacked global advertising campaign for La Vie Est Belle, the iconic women’s scent distilled with a combination of iris, earthy patchouli and warm vanilla notes, that hit the billion-dollar fragrance market in 2012. The Jamaican model is featured alongside A-list actresses Zendaya, Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, Amanda Seyfried and Isabella Rosselini in video and print ads that began rolling out in March.

“Without question, it’s one of the highest points in my career so far. How I bagged something so major can only be explained as a direct blessing from God,” a still amazed Knight told The Gleaner on a call from London, where she’s been resident for the last eight months.

Sharing the backstory of how she landed the Lancôme campaign, Knight disclosed that she optioned without not actually meeting the client. “They requested that I send an introductory and personality video which was easy for me to do. I spoke about my country Jamaica being described as “not a real place” which makes it so unique and included my favourite dance, [the] stir fry, which could have been the deal breaker considering my knocked knees,” she joked.

Then, the call came! “It was the beginning of Paris Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer season collections last year, and I was out shopping when my French agency, Titanium Management, called and asked me to take a seat as they revealed to me that I confirmed the campaign as the only black model,” the beauty from Linstead, St Catherine, shared. Shot in Spain last October by photographer Mario Sorrenti and film director Emmanuel Adjei, the star’s Lancôme worldwide promotion is extensively spotlighted in magazines, billboards, television spots, in-store beauty and department locations, and on the brand’s social media platforms that attract over 16 million followers.

Having graduated from The University of the West Indies, Mona campus, with a double major in marketing and tourism management just two years ago, Knight has comfortably settled into the booked and busy model existence across the pond. There are recent e-commerce shoots for a raft of clients including womenswear labels Bora Aksu and Veronica Beard as well as Idris Elba’s urban clothing line DYSF. And, also the consistent stream of beauty shoots with celebrity make-up artists.

So, what does this beauty who is a face of a major fragrance and make-up brand use to keep her own skin aglow: “I’m not yet married to any specific brand as my skin’s love for anything specific is fleeting. I change products perhaps every month, but my regimen is the same,” she advised. Her preferred go-to products are either natural or vegan. “I think that works best for me,” she advised. “As for glamour, my foundation is Estée Lauder, my setting powder and highlighter are from Fenty Beauty, Marc Jacobs Mascara, NARS lip gloss, eyeshadows, blush and concealer. I also use the N°1 de Chanel revitalising serum-in-mist and the Lancôme Absolute soft cream moisturiser and crème foaming cleanser.”
