The Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ) has announced a two-month amnesty that will allow business to file outstanding annual returns.

The amnesty, which is scheduled to run from May 4 to June 30, will also allow for the removal of companies from the COJ’s register.

Addressing a Jamaica Information Service ‘Think Tank’ on Thursday, Chief Executive Officer of the COJ, Judith Ramlogan said under the amnesty, for-profit companies will be able to file outstanding annual returns for $3,000 each or 60 per cent of the regular cost.

She says non-profit companies will be able to file their annual returns for $1,000 each or 50 per cent of the regular cost.

Ramlogan says the daily penalty for outstanding annual returns will also be wavered during the amnesty and adds that companies may be removed from the COJ’s register for a flat fee of $10,000 without filing all outstanding documents or providing an audit certificate.
