77-year-old attorney charged with fraud in divorce case

Detectives attached to the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch arrested and charged 77-year-old Leeland Playfair, a former attorney of Merrian Road in Vineyard Town, Kingston 3 for forgery.
It is reported that in July 2013, Playfair allegedly forged divorce papers for a man to give to his wife.
The wife became suspicious and made checks with the Supreme Court, which confirmed the papers were forged.
Her husband was arrested and charged on November 19, 2013.
Further investigations by the Police led to the discovery of Playfair’s role.
He is to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 12.
