Clarendon police uncover cattle stealing ring

The Praedial Larceny Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is appealing to farmers and other members of the public who recently lost their animals to thieves to come forward.
The Unit issued the appeal following the discovery of a major cattle stealing ring in Clarendon yesterday.
Head of the Unit, Deputy Superintendent, Kevin Francis, said the police recovered 78 heads of cattle and 35 goats in the Race Track community.
DSP Francis said the police was led to the community after a motor vehicle with two men aboard was intercepted.
He said the men ran and left behind several animals.

DSP Francis says organised crime is taking a toll on farmers and appealed to the public to speak out against the illicit activity.
He emphasised that praedial larceny not only affects the livelihood of farmers and the wider economy, but also poses a public health risk for the public.
DSP Francis encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the police.
