BOJ is advising the public that it is not responsible for emails purporting to be announcing new banking transaction guidelines.

The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) is advising the public that it is not responsible for emails purporting to be announcing new banking transaction guidelines.

It is warning people who receive those emails not to open them.

The BOJ says it understands that the emails are being sent from addressees associated with the bank.

It is seeking to make clear that it has not disseminated any instructional messages to the public.

The BOJ says persons in receipt of such messages should not proceed to open or execute any programme in the emails.

According to the bank, the emails have attachments which contain malicious software.
