Retirees getting attractive discounts on goods and service

Two of Jamaica's major private hospitals, Andrews Memorial in Kingston and Hargreaves Memorial in Mandeville, are among the latest discount partners who offer special rates to a group of retired persons in Jamaica.

The hospitals join a growing list of more than 50 partners who offer discounts ranging from five per cent to as high as 25 per cent on various goods and services to members of the Caribbean Community of Retired Persons (CCRP). These reduced rates are given to the retirees on presentation of their CCRP membership card.

CCRP Jamaica, in a statement, said that while the majority of establishments that offer concessionary rates to CCRP members on goods and services purchased are located in Kingston, the organisation has managed to negotiate discounts with a number of businesses in areas such as Montego Bay, Mandeville and Ocho Rios so that members outside of Kingston can also benefit.

"We recognise that these are tough financial times, particularly for older persons faced with the challenges of living on a fixed pension, so this is just one of the measures we have instituted that will help our members financially," stated CCRP Acting CEO Dorett Linton. "Our aim is to double the number of discount partners by the end of the year and increase the financial benefit, as well as the membership value to older persons," she concluded.

Members currently benefit from discounts covering over 15 categories of goods and services ranging from private hospitals and other medical services, including diagnostic and rehabilitation centres, private doctors and pharmacies to security services; spa and salon treatments; wellness centres and concierge services.
