They discussed the importance to combating illiteracy and giving more Jamaicans the power to change the nation in a positive way. This followed the official presentation of new laptops, donated by the NCB Foundation, to enhance the literacy levels and vocational skills of some 2,000 community members of the Hampstead Park community.
Minister of state in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Fayval Williams, supported the presentation of computers to the Hampstead Learning Centre in Mountain View and extended appreciation for the timely intervention to NCB Foundation Director Andrew Pairman. NCB donated two new laptops to assist with increasing academic performances in mathematics and English Language. While aimed at addressing literacy and numeracy, the programme also offers career guidance and vocational skills training to residents in the area. The objective is to effectively reduce the level of unemployment that has plagued the community for many years.

The bank’s representatives, along with summer interns, recently spent the day interacting with children and caring for babies. The visit also included a donation of back-to-school items, including an assortment of stationery, shoes and school bags, among other articles to children at the Walker’s Place of Safety. The NCB team, in partnership with Gutzmore Concepts, a large-scale producer of promotional items, also gave toiletries, diapers, baby formula and other supplies to the nursery.
