Al Miller calls for protocol to protect clergymen

Reverend Al Miller is calling for a procedure to protect clergymen from being wrongly sanctioned by the police when they help wanted persons surrender to the security forces.

Reverend Miller who heads the Fellowship Tabernacle Church in Kingston, was fined $1 million last week for attempting to pervert the course of justice for transporting then fugitive Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke to US authorities.

Reverend Miller says at that time he trusted former Police Commissioner Owen Ellington, but now feels he was betrayed by the former top cop.

Since Miller's sentencing there have been talks of developing a protocol to guide how such surrenders take place.

However, Miller says it would be more useful to develop a procedure to protect pastors from being criminally sanctioned if they are betrayed by the police when helping wanted persons surrender.
