Spanish Town poised for growth - Scott

SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine:
Mayor of Spanish Town Norman Scott has said major companies are returning to Spanish Town, in a move that will provide jobs for residents of the parish.
Pointing to Wisynco's rapid rebuilding of its facility in Twickenham Park, and the expansion of other major companies, such as GraceKennedy, Sherwin Williams, and a pharmaceutical entity, the mayor said residents must prepare themselves to take advantage of the jobs that will be available.
"In addition to the housing solutions, where another 6,000 to 10,000 housing solutions are coming into Spanish Town, we are poised for great benefits from these business expansions," Scott told Rural Xpress.
"I will say to individuals, go now, train and make yourselves marketable for these jobs that will be created as a result."
According to the mayor, the crime situation that has plagued the parish for many years has shown decline in many areas and a continued downward trend will greatly benefit Spanish Town and its people.
Scott said recent killings in the town should not be viewed as a precursor to any form of continued violence.
"I will inform all the gangsters that when we kill each other in a small area of Spanish Town, the entire Jamaica is tainted in the international media, and this will definitely stop investments that will bring jobs," said Scott.
He commended the police for the job they are currently doing to stay on top of crime in the parish.
