Prime Minister Andrew Holness has indicated that the government will be making another move to arrest the murders in Jamaica.

"I see the murders and it pains me so badly," Holness said at the party's annual conference at the National Arena on Sunday while endorsing a proposed bill that would restrict bail for people charged with murder.

According to Holness the bill should soon be debated in Parliament.

He also said discussions about human rights and justice must be balanced, taking into account the victims.

More than 1400 people have been murdered since the start of the year with St James seeing record numbers.

Meanwhile, Holness has asserted that the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), which probes the actions of members of the security forces, may be impacting the resolve of the police.

"I believe that sometimes INDECOM goes too far and places the police on the retreat," the Prime Minister said.

He then turned his attention to the controversial National Identification System (NIDS) telling Labourites that he remains open to discussions and will be embarking on a road show shortly to explain what it means.
