OCG commences hearings into JCF used cars contract

The Office of the Contractor General (OCG) has commenced hearings as part of the probe into the $427.9 million used car contract for the police force.

The hearings reportedly began last week.

The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre understands that permanent secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Dianne McIntosh, was summoned to the OCG last week to answer questions regarding the contract awarded to O'Brien's International Car Sales and Rental.

The Manager of O'Brien's International, Clement Ebanks, and his attorney, Abe Dabdoub, also appeared for questioning by the OCG.

It's not clear at this time if representatives of the car company are co-operating with the OCG investigation.

The probe by the OCG was triggered by the failure of O'Brien's International after it missed the deadline to deliver 200 used vehicle for the JCF.

It has so far delivered 30 vehicles, with another 66 on the wharves awaiting clearance.
