Check with justice ministry about authenticity of divorce documents – Justice Minister

Justice Minister Delroy Chuck is urging divorced Jamaicans to check to ensure their divorce documents are valid.
Chuck was speaking yesterday on Power Talk on Power 106 FM against the background of the divorce racket discovered at the Supreme Court.
In December, Chuck revealed that one woman was set to get married on December 2, but found out her divorce documents were fraudulent when she tried to obtain a marriage licence.
Chuck says that’s why it’s important recently divorced people check with his ministry to ensure the authenticity of their documents.

Earlier this year it was revealed that divorce decrees stamped by the Registrar of the Supreme Court were being signed by fictitious judges.
The decree absolute is the second of two documents required to dissolve a marriage.
