The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says a multi-jurisdictional investigation has been launched into reports that threats have been made against the life of former national security minister, Robert Montague.

In a release this morning, in response to the lead story in today's Sunday Gleaner, the JCF confirmed that United States law enforcement is assisting them with a high-level investigation into the threat.

According to the JCF, it takes all threats seriously and in this particular instance, it will be seeking to authenticate and identify the source of the threat.

"The matter is being dealt with expeditiously and all aspects of it will be fully ventilated," the release stated.

In the meantime, the JCF says all the requisite actions have been taken to bolster the security of Montague, as reported in today's edition of The Sunday Gleaner.

Montague was shifted to the Ministry of Transport and Mining in the recent Cabinet reshuffle announced by the prime minister.
