The Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) has seized the weapon of the licensed holder who yesterday pulled his gun inside the National Commercial Bank in Half Way Tree, St Andrew.

FLA Chief Executive Officer, Shane Dalling told The Gleaner that the seizure is part of an investigation.

“The FLA has visited the bank to take statements. The licensed holder was brought in to give a statement as to what occurred and a file will be prepared and sent to the board for a final decision. In the interim, the firearm will remain with the FLA until investigations are complete,” Dalling said.

He also said the authority will be embarking on a campaign to remind licensed firearm holders as well as members of the public about firearm safety.

“We take firearm safety seriously and we want our licensed holders to be very responsible in the use and handling of firearms at all times,”

A video captured inside the bank yesterday showed customers scampering for the exits as security personnel escorted the man with the firearm in hand through the door.
