NWA puts tow services along Mandela Highway due to frequent motorist break downs

The National Works Agency (NWA) says it has engaged the services of a tow truck company, along with the police, along the Mandela Highway in a bid to improve the travelling experience along the thoroughfare.

The NWA says the service has become necessary in light of the frequent occurrences of vehicles becoming disabled along the roadway, contributing to delays.

Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw, says that the tow service is only being engaged to remove broken down vehicles out of the driving lanes so that they are not impeding traffic.

Shaw says drivers would thereafter be responsible for removing their vehicles to any other location.

" checks with the police have revealed that in the majority of the cases where motor vehicles become immobile it is as a result of them running out of fuel. Persons should ensure that they have adequate fuel to complete their journey" Shaw said.

Shaw is also reminding motorists that the Mandela Highway is still a construction zone and therefore they should stick to a 40-kilometer per hour speed limit.

He is also asking public passenger operators to observe the speed limit and to obey the instructions of warning signs and flag persons.
