When a prophet declares: 'God says you are my wife'

Although she isn't against getting married, a revelation from a prophet within a few days of meeting him that God wanted her to be his (the prophet's) wife, was the last thing she expected. She refused to accept the word, telling him that her spirit was not in agreement with the word.
A week later, another prophet came to her with a similar revelation that God said that she was to be his (this prophet's) wife! She turned him down flat, but he was insistent, even to the point of telling her that she was being disobedient and not following God's command.
She still refused as she told him that she was not in malice with God and if God wanted that union, He would confirm the word with her.
The following scenario actually happened to a popular Christian in the media landscape and it is with this in mind that Family and Religion reached out to Prophet Vic Lee, who has a Caribbean following through his 'Caribbean Praise' prophetic ministry on Facebook.
Vic Lee in responding, shared that genuine prophetic ministry will always point to Jesus and true prophetic ministry comes from the Holy Spirit alone.
For this reason, he cautioned that words from a prophet cannot be embraced until they are tested, examined, or are in line with the Word of God.
Preying Prophets
"The Word of God is the highest measure of every prophetic word you receive from a prophet, and if it's not in line with God's word, you must never embrace it. 'But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed'," he said, quoting from Galatians 1:8.
Lee, in acknowledging that it is possible for God to show a person who to marry, said that because God has given us a free will, some prophets take advantage by trying to manipulate others into thinking that they are their life's partners.
"But it's not a forcing matter and your spirit has to agree to his words. If not, then there is something wrong. The Bible says, "the Spirit of God bears witness with our spirit" (Rom 8:16). There has to be that peace when a prophet tells you a word that he claims is from God," he said.
For those who are in this kind of situation, Lee's advice is simple. He said that they should exercise wisdom in approaching the person in question when they are sharing what's on their heart, leaving the person to accept or reject them, based on their own emotions ... not a command from God.
"God has given us free will to choose, and prophets must stop using the name of God in vain," he said.
It is also for this reason that he is encouraging single Christians to seek God earnestly for themselves in prayer. He said that they should also talk to other spirit-filled Christians when seeking confirmation as the Bible says, "Out of two or three witnesses a Word is established." (2 Cor 13:1)
Zoning in on false prophets, Lee shared that there are two kinds who have truly received Christ, yet they have fallen away from God. Although they fell, he said, they are still able to operate in the gifts, but it is important to note that the gift might be from God, but the Devil has manipulated it for evil and not to the glory of God.
The second type are those who have invited a spirit of divination into their lives, which enables them to prophesy. This spirit is not of God. It comes from the Devil and has nothing to do with God.
"You must also note that although the word coming from them is of the Devil, sometimes it can be very accurate and on point." (Acts 16:16-18)
Lee warns that false prophets are not motivated by love. They interpret the Word of God erroneously and are more interested in taking credit for their gift and highlighting themselves rather than giving the glory to the Holy Spirit. False prophets can simply be identified by their fruits.
For vulnerable Christians, he urged them to develop a deep relationship with God and to be in tune with the Holy Spirit as he said discerning of spirits is a communication gift through the Holy Spirit that makes one aware of one's spiritual atmosphere and the environment around one.
"You can discern if your spiritual senses are activated and they can be activated if you have an intimate fellowship with God. You can deal with such a person by confronting or rebuking him or her in love and praying for the person to come to repentance and truth by showing them love," he said.
