Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid has denounced the stabbing of two teens, one fatally, in Bog Walk, St. Catherine yesterday afternoon.

Reid says the ministry sent a trauma team to their high school, Bog Walk High School, on Monday afternoon and again this morning to continue grief counselling sessions with staff and students.

Sixteen-year-old Kevaughn Barnes and his schoolmate 17-year-old Ishmael Richards were reportedly attacked while walking along the main road in Bog Walk by a group of teenage boys.

The attack reportedly stemmed from a long-standing dispute.

One of the attackers reportedly brandished a knife which he allegedly used to stab Kevaughn and Ishmael.

They were assisted to the Linstead Hospital where Kevaughn was pronounced dead and Ishmael admitted.

The education minister says the principal of Bog Walk High Patrick Phillips has indicated that Kevaughn's death has greatly impacted the school especially his identical twin brother who is also a student at the institution.

Meanwhile, the police this afternoon reported that four persons, including a 15-year-old boy, have been taken into custody in relation to the stabbing incident.
