The police have increased security around a judge based at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court after the judge reported receiving death threats today.

The Parish Judge, whose name is being withheld, was scheduled to hear bail applications today for a number of reputed gangsters who are in custody for murder.

Senior Superintendent Jacqueline Green, who heads the St Andrew Central Police Division, confirmed a short time ago that security was also increased around the court "because of information we received in relation to the safety of one of the judges".

"We are conducting further investigations surrounding the information," said Green.

She declined to divulge how the threats were communicated, saying that releasing the information would impact the investigation.
