St James policeman arrested on suspicion of larceny

A police constable was arrested yesterday for reasonable suspicion of larceny of a motor vehicle in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

The Spanish Town Police report that about 1:45 p.m. the policeman, who is attached to the St. James Division, was in the process of selling a Nissan AD Waggon.

During the transaction, the prospective buyer became suspicious when discrepancies were discovered with the documents allegedly registered to the vehicle.

The police were summoned and an investigation immediately launched which revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Portmore, St. Catherine on Thursday, June 14.

The motorcar was seized and the policeman was taken into custody.

The Inspectorate of Constabulary is also investigating.
