Junction Road in St Mary to be reopened for holiday weekend

The National Works Agency (NWA) says the section of Junction Road in St Mary which has been closed to facilitate ongoing road improvement works will be opened to vehicular traffic for three days this weekend.

The road will facilitate normal travel from Saturday, August 4 to Monday, August 6.

Acting Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Ramona Lawson, says that ordinarily roadworks would have been undertaken on the weekend and the area would have remained closed to facilitate the activities.

Lawson says given that the number of motorists who will be seeking to use the roadway to access northern parishes for the holiday weekend is likely to increase, the NWA took the decision to open the section of the road on the three days.

She is reminding road users that the area remains an active construction zone and they are still expected to drive according to the current road conditions, obeying warning signs and the 30 km/h speed limit.

She says the 6-hour road closure, between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be re-instituted on Tuesday, August 7.

The 6-hour daily closure is to remain in place for the next four months.
