With just five days to go before delegates decide who will occupy second-tier leadership in the People's National Party (PNP), the head of the party's secretariat, Julian Robinson, said the party is putting all in place for the election, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 15.

Robinson said there are 3,330 delegates who are eligible to cast a ballot in the election for four of the six nominated vice-presidential candidates.

Dr Angela Brown Burke, Dr Fenton Ferguson, Dr Wykeham McNeill, Phillip Paulwell, Mikael Phillips, and Damion Crawford are vying for the four spots in the party's leadership.

"Delegates come in a number of formats and from groups. Groups select their delegates. We have the affiliates - our overseas affiliates, the National Workers Union. We have delegates at the National Executive Council.

Robinson said voters must have in their possession a national identification card to be allowed to cast their ballot.

Voting, the general secretary said, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be conducted by the Electoral Commission of Jamaica.

"The top four are the ones who will be selected as vice-presidents. There is no regional affiliation, it's a national election," Robinson said.

He warned that voters will have to vote for exactly four candidates - otherwise, their ballot will be deemed spoilt.

"If you vote for one, two, three, five, or six, your ballot will be spoilt. Delegates must vote for four candidates," he said.
