The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) says it is investigating a report of damage to the main sewerage network traversing Seaview Gardens in St Andrew.

NEPA says the damaged system has resulted in the release of untreated sewage into the environment.

The agency says a technical team is investigating the report.

NEPA is advising the public to take precautions and stay away from the area as untreated sewage may pose a threat should persons become exposed to it.

It says the operators of the sewerage system have been instructed to have the damaged sewer line repaired within 24 hours.
