The Victoria Mutual Group (VM) recently welcomed Julian King, vice-president and general manager of Xoom, to its Half-Way Tree corporate office. King's visit happened as Victoria Mutual Money Transfer Services (VMTS) and Xoom celebrate 15 years of solid partnership.

Xoom, a money transfer, bill-payment and phone reload service, is a PayPal company, having been acquired by the entity nearly three years ago. It is currently the largest online provider of remittance services.

King is Jamaican and a past student of Campion College. During his visit, he had meetings with members of the VM team, looking at ways to expand and deepen the relationship between the two organisations. While there, King reflected on his nearly lifelong relationship with Victoria Mutual.

FIRST VICTORIA MUTUAL ACCOUNT

"I spent the first 10 years of my life just down the road from Victoria Mutual, on Cargill Avenue. My mother opened an account at VM for me when I was just one year old. So, I've had that account for 47 of my 48 years," he said.

King has worked with Xoom for 13 years. Before that, he held senior positions at EarthLink, and Procter & Gamble, having graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

King said he was excited about the continued relationship between Xoom and VM. "We meet regularly as a hallmark of our relationship, as we are constantly seeking to understand how we can better serve our clients. We take pride in being the brand of choice for immigrants helping their families," he said.

Chief Executive Officer of VMTS Michael Howard said the bond between Xoom and VMTS was very strong. "This partnership is extremely important to VMTS because Xoom is one of our largest partners, which accounts for a large and continuously growing market share," he said.
