Outgoing president of the Jamaica Manufacturerers' and Exporters' Association (JMEA) Metry Seaga has said he is confident that with proper policies and support, Jamaica's macroeconomic indicators will continue to grow and contribute significantly to development.

Speaking recently at the JMEA's Annual Awards Gala, Seaga said that the manufacturing sector is showing positive signs and that with continued innovation, there can be exponential growth.

"Jamaica's macroeconomic indicators are looking good. Exports are on the rebound, and manufacturing is showing positive signs with good growth numbers each quarter," he said.

"I personally am very bullish on our little island and what it can do on the international stage in the business of music, the arts, sports, manufacturing and exports. There is a whole world out there, a big, lucrative market," he continued.

He also said he will continue to fight for ample factory spaces that can accommodate micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), indicating that such an innovation will make it much easier for such businesses to thrive.

"Again, and especially for MSMEs, dedicated purpose-built affordable factory space is a critical element to turn them into substantial and sustainable business enterprises that can employ people, pay taxes and contribute to our country's economic growth," he said.

"We have had numerous discussions with various ministries and agencies and are in the process of putting proposals together to make this dream a reality," Seaga continued.

The president added, "I promise you, members, I will not rest until I see a place created that houses and showcases our smaller members a place for them to call home, a platform from which they can launch into stronger businesses and become success stories for us to be proud of."
