National Pen, a subsidiary of Cimpress and sister company to Vista Print Jamaica Limited, will today officially open its first operation in the Caribbean at the Montego Bay Free Zone in St James.

The ceremony is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.

A distributor of promotional products to small and medium-sized businesses, National Pen started operating in Jamaica in August and employs more than 190 people, serving the firm’s North American market.

“National Pen is growing internationally at an exceptional rate and this expansion will help us to provide our North American customers with the best standard of service and care,” said CEO Peter Kelly.

“The process of opening our new centre here in Montego Bay has been exceptional.  As the business grows we will investigate the possibility of further expansion in this region,” added Kelly.

According to site director Q. Andre Betton, Montego Bay’s wide talent pool combined with its diverse culture, English language proficiency and nearshore relationship to the North American market makes it the ideal location to support his firm's global growth.

President of the Business Process Industry Association of Jamaica Gloria Henry said the move by a world-renowned brand like National Pen is an indicator of Jamaica’s popularity as a key nearshore destination.

"Very excellent that after a decade and a half of Vistaprint coming to Jamaica that a subsidiary of that great company has brought its support centre to Jamaica," said Henry.

"The Montego Free Zone continues to be a good location to provide the support and facilitation that new space investors need," added Henry.
